HDOT Revels New HNL Parking Structure

The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation revealed that a new parking structure will be built on the outskirts of HNL. The $350million project, located at the corner of Ualena Street and Paiea Street, will be used for employee and passenger parking, as well as retail space on the ground floor. Currently, it's called Lot 101, and used for employee parking.

Hawai‘i Rainbow Warriors Team Charter

The Hawai‘i Rainbow Warriors football team is chartering a Hawaiian Airlines A321-271N for their road trip to FAT for their game against the Fresno State Bulldogs. N214HA "Kukui" (msn 8157, f/n 214) is flying the team as HAL760. The Rainbow Warriors will return following the game.

Shanghai Airlines is taking delivery of B-20AY (c/n 61644, l/n 7546) today. This 737-8 is making its delivery flight from BFI to PVG, via HNL and GUM, as CSH9012. the stops at HNL and GUM will be overnighters.

Phenix Jet's VP-CTT (c/n 38751, l/n 3796) is making another stop at HNL. This 737-7ZH BBJ arrived from HND this morning as CPJ88. It's the third time this year that this BBJ has stopped off at HNL.

Hawaiian Airlines To Have Three Moana 2 Theme Jets

Hawaiian Airlines announced today, that they will be promoting "Moana 2", the sequel to the 2016 Disney animated motion picture "Moana". Three airliners will wear "Moana 2" decals: an A330-243, N381HA "Hōkūleʻa" (msn 1114, f/n 381); an A321-271N, N208HA "Koa" (msn 8123, f/n 208); and a 717-22A, N476HA "ʻElepaio" (c/n 55118, l/n 5053, f/n 476). These three airliners were selected based upon their fleet name in relation to voyaging methods. This promotion is also tied into the airlines "Navigate Your Own Adventure" sweepstakes Hawaiian is conducting.

Hawaiian Airlines published a behind-the-scenes video go "Hōkūleʻa" having its decals applied on their YouTube channel.

In October 2016, Hawaiian Airlines had decals of the original "Moana" motion picture applied to three A330-243s: N390HA "Nāmāhoe", N391HA "Hōkūlei", and N392HA "Hikianalia".

Cargojet's C-GUAJ

Cargojet's 767-35EERF, C-GUAJ (c/n 26063, l/n 434), is making a brief fuel stop at HNL from IAD as CJT3465. It will continue onto POM, then CNS.

Honolulu Fire Department's N305HF

The Honolulu Fire Department has taken delivery of their new Bell Textron Canada 429 Global Ranger helicopter, N305HF (msn 57517). This Bell 429 will eventually replace one of the three MD520Ns in HFD's fleet. The helicopter is currently at JRF, where it will perform training flights before being inducted into service.

Royal New Zealand Air Force's NZ7014

The Royal New Zealand Air Force is taking delivery of their fourth C-130J-30, NZ7014 (msn 5990). This new Super Hercules, flying as KIW784, departed MGE yesterday for SUU, and will make two-day stop at HIK, before continuing onto PPG then MHB.

The University of Nevada Wolf Pack football team is chartering an Omni Air International 767-224ER for their road game on Saturday against the Hawai‘i Rainbow Warriors. N234AX (c/n 30436, l/n 833) is flying the Wolf Pack from RNO to HNL, as OAE2604.

United Kingdom Government's G-GBNI

The United Kingdom Government's G-GBNI (msn 8830) is making a brief fuel stop at HNL early this morning as it transits from STN to the South Pacific. This A321-251NX, operated by Titan Airways, also made stops at YWG and OAK, and continued onto APW and PPG, as KRF645.

VP-BAP (c/n 19260, l/n 412), a 727-21 owned by Malibu Consulting, is making a brief fuel stop at HNL from NAN, and will continue onto VNY. This 727 began its journey on 04 October, as it flew from VNY to CNX [Chiang Mai International Airport, Chiang Mai, Thailand], via TRM, CDB, and HND. Its return to VNY is routed from CNX, via DMK, ROR, NAN and HNL.

Shenzhen Airlines' N235BE

Boeing is ferrying Shenzhen Airlines' N235BE (c/n 61151, l/n 7856) from BFI to HSN, via JRF and GUM as BOE944. This 737-8, which already has the Chinese registration of B-20DZ, is headed for the Boeing China Completion Center for cabin completion.

ConAir's C-GVFK

ConAir's Avro RJ85 fire fighting aircraft, C-GVFK (msn E2268) will be making a stop at HNL from YXX, via OAK. It's on its way Down Under for the Australian summer fire fighting season, wearing a new tail number, 164.

QantasLink's VH-YQY

Southern Cross International is ferrying QantasLink's VH-YQY "Kuranda National Park" (c/n 55056, l/n 5015) from CBR to VCV, via PPG and KOA, as SXI2471. This 717-2K9, that was operated by National Jet Systems, will make an overnight stop at KOA tonight.

Hawai‘i Rainbow Warriors Team Charter

The Hawai‘i Rainbow Warriors football team is chartering a Hawaiian Airlines A321-271N for their road trip to Pullman, WA to play the Washington State Cougars on Saturday. N204HA "ʻŌhiʻa Lehua" (msn 7959) is flying the team to GEG as HAL758. The A321N will remain at GEG, and bring the 'Bows home following the game.

Korean Air Launches ICN-HNL 787-10 Service

Korean Air launched 787-10 service today on their ICN-HNL service, KAL53/54. HL8515 (c/n 66878, l/n 1152) is making the first B78X flight. Korean Air becomes the second airline to have 787-10s serving HNL, along with United Airlines.

Airnorth's N197JB

Southern Cross International is delivering N197JB (msn 19000020) to Airnorth from SJO to DRW, via SDM, HNL, and MAJ, as SXI2477. This ERJ-190AR is owned by Alliance Airlines, and is being leased to Airnorth. It will be registered as VH-A2A in Australia.

The Royal Canadian Air Force's CC-330, 330002 (msn 1653), is making a brief fuel stop at HNL from YOW, as it transits westward as CFC1. This VIP-configured A330-243 is transporting Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. During its brief fuel stop, 330002 parked on the south cargo ramp.

REX Airlines is returning VH-PAG (c/n 37821, l/n 3288) to its lessor, Castlelake. This 737-8FE is ferrying from MEL to MZJ, via BNE, GUM, MAJ, and HNL. It's making an overnight stop at HNL.

US Navy's 160770 PlaneTags

When MotoArt came down to the Kalaeloa Airport, the second former Naval Air Museum at Barbers Point aircraft they dismantled, was the former US Navy Lockheed P-3C Orion, BuNo 160770 (msn 285A-5679). MotoArt released the PlaneTags for 160770 today.

Network Aviation is taking delivery of VH-8NZ "Abrolhos Islands" (msn 3395). This QantasLink-liveried A319-132 departed BQN for BNE yesterday. It's being flown by Southern Cross International as SXI2468 from BQN to PHX, then as SXI2467 from PHX to HNL. Other stops en route to PER, are APW and CNS; they are being flown as SXI2468.

Kamaka Air's N99131

We're bringing back "HNL RareBirds Classic", this time, on a quarterly basis. This quarter, we are featuring Kamaka Air's C-47A-65-DL Skytrain, N99131 (c/n 18949), as it sat on HNL's South Ramp in 2005. While it never formally wore Kamaka Air titles, the faint outline of "Aero Venezuela" titles can be seen. This C-47A made appearances in the motion picture "Pearl Harbor" and "Outbreak"; and the television series "Magnum P.I." [episodes "Let Me Hear The Music" (1985) and "Going Home" (1985)] that were filmed in Hawai‘i.

N99131 was donated by James Petrides to the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum in April 2012, and was restored and repainted to its World War II US Army Air Force livery.

18949's History:
Oct 1943: Delivered to the US Army Air Force as 42-100486 "Cheeky Charlie".
Dec 1943: Assigned to the 40th TCS, 371th TCG, 5th AF.
Mar 1945: Assigned to the 6th TCS, 374th TCG, 5th AF.
