Air Canada rouge To Launch Service To Hawaii

Air Canada rouge announced today that they will launch service to Hawaii beginning on November 21, 2014 effectively putting an end to Air Canada's mainline service to Hawaii. The new twice-weekly B767-300ER service between YYZ [Toronto-Pearson, Canada] and HNL, will begin on November 26, 2014 making them the only carrier to service this market.

In addition, Air Canada announced that existing year-round non-stop service from Vancouver to Honolulu and Maui, currently operated by Air Canada, will be converted to daily Air Canada rouge Boeing 767-300ER service effective November 21 and December 1, 2014.

Delta To Add SEA-OGG Service

As part of their service expansion at SEA, Delta Air Lines is adding daily 757-200 service between SEA and OGG, beginning 20 December 2014. It will add about 170 seats per flight, per day.

This flight will compete with Hawaiian's daily A330-200 flight (HAL29/30) and Alaska's two 737-800 daily flights (861/878 & 867/868).

China Southern's B-2946

China Southern's latest retired 737-37K is heading to the mainland. B-2946 (c/n 27375, l/n 2655) was delivered to Zhongyuan Aviation in November 1994 and assimilated into China Southern fleet when the two airlines merged in August, 2000. It was flown to MWH, where it will be parted out, then scrapped.

SilkAir's 9V-MGD

SilkAir is taking delivery of 9V-MGD (c/n 44220, l/n 4926) today. The 737-8SA is making its delivery flight from BFI as SLK8880, and will overnight at HNL.

Lion's PK-LOQ

Lion Air is taking delivery of PK-LOQ (c/n 39816, l/n 4924) today. The 737-8GP, their second delivery this month, is making its delivery flight from BFI as LNI1, and will make its brief fuel stop at HNL.

Malaysia Airlines is taking delivery of 9M-MLV (c/n 39941, l/n 4917) today. The 737-8H6 is making its delivery flight from BFI as MAS5473, and will overnight at HNL.

Xiamen Air is taking delivery of B-1913 (c/n 39900, l/n 4919) this morning. The 737-85C is making its delivery flight from BFI as CXA1913, and will overnight at HNL.

Shenzhen's B-1940

Shenzhen Airlines is taking delivery of B-1940 (c/n 37622, l/n 4909) this morning. The 737-87L is making its delivery flight from BFI as CSZ903, and will overnight at HNL.

C-FBXO

C-FBXO (msn 402), a former UNI Air [B7/UIA] Dash8-311 is making its ferry flight from TPE to Canada (via SPN, MAJ, HNL, and CCR). It arrived yesterday afternoon from MAJ, and departed early this morning for CCR.

It was previously registered as B-15233, and originally delivered to Great China Airlines [GC/GCA] in January 1996. UNI and Great China merged in July 1998, and B-15233 was transferred to the UNI fleet.

Hawaiian To Convert HNL-BNE To A330

Beginning this December, Hawaiian Airlines will be converting their HNL-BNE service to the A330-243 from the 767-300ER.

Philippine Airlines To Increase HNL-MNL Frequency

Beginning August 1st, Philippine Airlines will increase its frequency of PAL100/101 (HNL-MNL) from three A340-300 weekly to five weekly flights. In late October, the airline plans to go daily on the route.

Since Hawaiian Airlines canceled their HNL-MNL route, Philippines is the sole airline providing direct service between HNL and MNL.

Navy Research Labatory's 357

Arriving this afternoon, this NP-3D from the Navy's Research Laboratory taxies to Hickam. 153442/357 belongs to VX-30 "Bloodhounds" out of NAS Point Mugu, California.

Indian Navy's IN323

The Indian Navy is taking delivery of IN323 (c/n 40613, l/n 4399) today. The P-8I (737-8FV) is making its delivery flight to India as BOE204, and is still wearing the US N-Number, N718DS. It will overnight at HNL, before continuing onto GUM. This is the fourth of six airframes to be delivered.

Ironically, Indian Navy P-8Is have delivered through HNL, while commercial 737NG deliveries have taken the Atlantic route. The first three Air India Express -800s did deliver through HNL, but have since taken the trans-Atlantic option.

We were unable to get a photo of IN323 at HNL, but team member Drewski2112 got a photo of it at BFI.

China United Airlines is taking delivery of B-1989 (c/n 39734, l/n 4913) today. The 737-89P, originally ordered by parent company, China Eastern Airlines, is making it delivery flight from BFI as CUA989, and will overnight at HNL.

China Southern Airlines is taking delivery of B-1952 (c/n 41319, l/n 4912) today. The 737-81B, leased from Air Lease, is making its delivery flight from BFI as CSN952, and will overnight at HNL.

China Eastern's B-5815

China Eastern Airlines is taking delivery of their second 737NG within the past four days, with B-5815 (c/n 39308, l/n 4906). The 737-76D is making its delivery flight from BFI as CES299, and will overnight at HNL. It was originally ordered by CES's subsidiary Shanghai Airlines, but was taken up by its parent company, and is painted in the Yunnan Peacock livery.

Lucky Air [8L/LKE], part of the Hainan Air Group, is taking delivery of B-5823 (c/n 39211, l/n 4904) today. The 737-74P is making its delivery flight from BFI as B5823, and will overnight at HNL.

Okay Airways is taking delivery of B-1963 (c/n 41249, l/n 4905) today. The 737-86N, leased from GECAS, is making its delivery flight from BFI as OKA1963, and will overnight at HNL.

China Airlines SkyTeam A330-302

China Airlines has switched out its normal equipment for CAL18/17 to and from Narita International Airport (NRT/RJAA). The normal 747-409s has been replaced by their A330-302s. Flying today, B-18311 (c/n 752) wears the SkyTeam Alliance livery. China Airlines joined SkyTeam on 09/28/2011, and is the 15th member of the alliance.

Lion Air's PK-LOP

In the second of a pair of Indoneisa-bound 737-800 deliveries today, Lion Air is taking delivery of PK-LOP (c/n 39815, l/n 4890). The 737-8GP is making its delivery flight from BFI, and will make a brief fuel stop at HNL before continuing onto MAJ. PK-LOP is Lion's second delivery within the past 11 days.

Garuda's PK-GNG

In the first of two Indonesia-bound 737-800 deliveries today, Garuda Indonesia is taking delivery of PK-GNG (c/n 39891, l/n 4901). The 737-8U3, leased from the Aviation Capital Group, is making its delivery flight from BFI as GIA8011, and will make a brief fuel stop at HNL, before continuing onto KSA.

As with their previous 737-8U3 deliveries this year, Garuda has changed the delivery flight routing to BFI-HNL-KSR-CGK. And like their competitor Lion Air, the stop at HNL is only for fuel.

Asiana's HL7508

Our May edition of "HNL RareBirds Classic" takes us back 18 years ago, this month, with this Asiana Airlines 737-48E, HL7508 (c/n 25772, l/n 2791), as it made its delivery flight from BFI to SEL.

HL7508 is seen above wearing the original Asiana livery. In January 2007, it was painted in the current Kumho Asiana Group livery that was adopted in 2006. In February 2010, it was transferred to Air Busan [BZ/ABL], which Asiana has a controlling interest in.
