Caught this unusual BizJet, VP-CBA (c/n 22628), on Saturday at the "new" Castle and Cooke Aviation ramp area. What a beautiful 737 this is! I especially liked the polished nacelles for the old smokies. I had just enough of the setting sun to catch this expensive toy. What a cool way to spend $55M!
Huh, the "Janet Jet"?
ReplyDeleteIt was in the AQ hangar yesterday.
ReplyDeleteTried to look up who was owner/user of this jet, but no luck. Anyone know who came in on this jet or who owns it?
ReplyDeleteThe VP-C__ registration is the Cayman Islands, on checking a website, the reg was not listed.
ReplyDeleteAccording to airliners.net photos it looks like this 737-2W8/Adv is based at VNY.
It was orginally delivered as N180RN ...

Then a jet for the United Arab Emirates as A6-ESH ...

Then VP-CSA retaining the red cheatline.
Maybe not Janet, but Kanye West and some other musicians did fly in in a private jet to record music here. Apparently many West Coast musicians love to fly to Hawaii to produce albums here.
ReplyDeleteThat plane's been everywhere apparently; there's a YouTube video of it landing at NRT. And when I looked at a close-up of another photo of it, there's a stylized gold word next to the starboard passenger door and it looks like it starts with an 'A.'
ReplyDeleteVP-CBA is a privately owned aircraft, we have the capability of flying about 3400NM non-stop, we'll be back in HNL on the beg. of Oct.
ReplyDeleteIt's probably the most classic B737 of the whole business jet category.
And no, the owner is NOT Janet nor Kayne West!
Mahalo for your comments, aloha oe.
It is owned by a Brazillian business man who used to reside in HNL. The lettering commented on by the door is AUREA. It is the owner's daughters name. Anyone want any more information.
ReplyDeleteThe youtube video you are talking about was an air turnback in NRT. They have had quite a few diversions for a private airplane. Poor planning? Airplane troubles?
ReplyDeleteThe airplane is not based in VNY, just a stop for maintenance and interior issues. HNL was home base but has moved with the owner.
ReplyDeleteI heard the owner's name yesterday, it's like octavio or octavius and i can't remember the last name. Anyone have an idea?
ReplyDeleteThere are 2 videos at NRT. One is a turn back and the other is a normal arrival and landing.
