Island Air's N808WP: The End of an Era

I knew Island Air's N808WP had been taken out of service, but today on the HNL South Ramp I discovered just how far out of service.  It's been stripped and chopped to bits.  According to some of the folks in the area, parts had been sent back to Bombardier in Canada for testing and examination, since it was the highest time Dash-8 in existence.

    I always thought 808 was the highest cycle DHC-8 in the world, not the highest time. Any details or numbers?

    After bringing it back into service a few years ago, it is amazing it has made it this far. Kudos to the guys in the hanger who painted the interior by hand!

    Darn, well that's too bad.

    We used to ride 808 between HNL and MKK.

    Looks like the last photo I got of her in-flight was 09/12/09.

    What remains of the airplane has been towed to the Hawaii 50 filming facility at the old Honolulu Advertiser building. That's where I saw it this morning.

    I guess it will be used in an upcoming episode.
