AirAsia X To Restart KUL-HNL?

In an AirAsia news release, the airline intimated that they are planning to relaunch service between KUL and HNL as part of its international expansion, and fleet renewal plan. However, this time it will be with their A330-900N  fleet, which would allow them to fly non-stop between the two cities. Previously, the airline's AirAsia X subsidiary flew A330-300s (above) between KUL and HNL, but had a stopover at KIX, that ran from June 2018 until the early stages of the Corona Virus pandemic.

In this CH-Aviation.com article, Capital A, the holding company for the AirAsia brands, plans to consolidate of their airlines under the AirAsia X brand this year.

AirAsia X's 9M-XXT

AirAsia X's "Xcintillating PhoeniX" liveried A330-343, 9M-XXT (msn 1549), made the KUL-KIX-HNL service (XAX1/2) today.

AirAsia X's 9M-XXU

AirAsia X's A330-343 X-Men logo jet, 9M-XXU (msn 1581), came in today on their daily run from KUL (via KIX).

AirAsia X To Go Daily For Three Months

Airways Magazine reports that AirAsia X plans to go daily on its KUL-KIX-HNL A330-300 service from 18 August to 27 October.

AirAsia X Makes Debut Flight To HNL

AirAsia X [D7/XAX] (Malaysia) made its inaugural flight from KUL, with a stop at KIX, today. 9M-XBA (msn 1670), an A330-343, made the first XAX1/XAX2 flight.

The bottom photo of 9M-XBA, taken by KN Aviation, was the return flight to KIX and KUL [XAX2], that departed two hours late.

AirAsia X To Start HNL Service In June

Malaysia's AirAsia X [D7/XAX] announced that they will begin four weekly A330-300 flights between KUL and HNL, with a stop at KIX, starting on June 28, 2017. The airline, which received an approval from the FAA, two weeks ago, filed schedules for this new service.

AirAisa X's 9M-XAA

9M-XAA (c/n 54) is making its way to the Tucson Marana Regional Airport (AVW/KAVQ) from Kuala Lumpur (KUL/WMKK), Malaysia via Kansai (KIX/RJBB), Japan, and HNL, as it has been retired from the AirAisa X fleet.

This A330-301 was originally leased to Aer Lingus by ILFC in May, 1994 as EI-SHN and named "St. Flannan". EI-SHN was returned to the lessor in June, 2002. Two years later, it was leased out by AWAS to Air Algerie in April, 2004 as F-OMSA. In September, 2005 it went to Air Madrid as EC-JMF, and named "Puerta de Toledo" until the company ceased operations in December, 2006. A year later in September, 2007 it then went to AirAisa X as 9M-XAA and named "Semangat Sir Freddie Laker", leased from Kahala Aviation Leasing.

AirAsia X's Initial HNL Routing

According to an article by AirwaysNews, AirAsia X's foray into the Hawai‘i market from Malaysia has an added move, a stop at KIX, between KUL and HNL. The stop would allow for fuel and additional passengers at KIX, and add another airline serving that part of the route.

AirAsia X To Hawai‘i?

The Pacific Business Journal reports that AirAsia Group CEO Tony Fernandes tweeted three days ago, that AirAsia X [D7/XAX] has applied for permission to begin service to HNL from KUL.

The mainstay of AirAsia X's fleet is the A330-343 with a range of 4,600nm, but with 6822nm separating the two points, the flight would have to make a stop somewhere for fuel.
