Three Airlines Vie For The LNY EAS Contract

With the Essential Air Service (EAS) contract to serve LNY up again, three airlines are vying for the Federal Aviation Administration award. Incumbent Mokulele Airlines, along with Pacific Air Charters, and Cape Air have submitted bids to the FAA for the EAS. Mokulele won the previous two-year contract in 2024, and is poised to try to renew it.

Pacific Air Charters has three P2012s based at HNL, with more on order.

Cape Air, based at HYA [Cape Cod Gateway Airport, Hyannis, MA] has a fleet of 64 Cessna C402s and 30 P2012s (with 70 on order). Cape Air also has an interline agreement with Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, Delta Air Lines, American Airlines, and United Airlines.

Pacific Air Charters Launches On-Demand Charter Flights

Pacific Air Charters launched on-demand inter-island charter flights with their Tecnam P2012 Travelers today. The Honolulu-based carrier was granted approval by the FAA to proceed.

Pacific Air Charters To Refocus On Commuter Flights

Ch-Aviation.com reports that Pacific Air Charters will change its commuter flights focus to LUP, as it prepares to launch its P2012 operations. The air charter company will expand to other airports in 2025, but has deferred deliveries of more P2012s.

Pacific Air Charters Applies For Commuter Service

Pacific Air Charters applied for authority to also fly as a scheduled commuter carrier within Hawai‘i. The airline submitted an application with the US DOT on 07 June, to be flown by the Tecnam P2012s they have. Pacific Air Charters also has an Essential Air Service bid for service to/from LNY. 

Thought the three P2012s here are registered to Pago Wings, they have yet to make their way to PPG. Pacific Air Charters also has two registrations on hold with the FAA, N1220P and N1221P.

Pago Wings' N1216P

Pago Wings is taking delivery of their fourth P2012 Traveler, N1216P (msn 062/US) today. It's making its last leg from MRY to HNL. This P2012, operated by Pacific Air Charters, began its delivery journey from LIAU [Capua Airport, Liau, Italy] on 18 March, and made stops at QIU, VLC, SMA, YQY, BGR, MMU, AGC, RFD, RAP, BOI, UAO, then MRY.

Pago Wings N1202P Ferries To PPG

Pacific Air Charters is ferrying Pago Wings' first Tecnam P2012 Traveler, N1202P (msn 056/US) from HNL to PPG, via KOA, today. The KOA-PPG leg is scheduled for early tomorrow morning.

Pago Wings' N1202P

Pago Wings' first Tecnam P2012 Traveller arrived from SMX as it will make its way to PPG. N1202P (msn 056US) is making its delivery flight from LIAU (Capua, Italy) to PPG, via LIKO, ABZ, RKV, YYR, BTV, MDW, ABQ, VGT, SMX, and HNL. This P2012 departed LIAU on 13 July 2023, and made it VGT five days later, then spent time there for testing and ferrying prep. It arrived from SMX this evening, though the original flight routing was for OGG.

Pacific Air Charters To Assign P2012s

CH-Aviation reports that Pacific Air Charters will assign its two Tecnam P2012 Travelers on order to its new subsidiary in American Sāmoa, called Pago Wings.

Pago Pagoʻs KVZK reports that Pago Wings is owned by the Alofa family.

Pacific Air Charters Orders Two P2012s

Pacific Air Charters ordered two Tecnam P2012 Travellers to add to their fleet, for their inter-island charter operations. Delivery is expected in July 2023. The airline also holds options for 23 additional P2012s, and it's not known if those on options will directly replace PAC's current fleet.

Pacific Air Charters will become the second airline in Hawai‘i (along with Mokulele) to have P2012s in the fleet.
