Skymark Airlines Adds More 737-10s

Japan's Skymark Airlines and Aviation Capital Group announced at the Farnborough Airshow today, a lease agreement for an additional seven 737-10s, to add to the airline's seven 737-10s they already have on order with Boeing.

Skymark Airlines' JA738A

Skymark Airlines is taking delivery of their first 737-8, JA738A (c/n 65542, l/n 9539) today. It's making its delivery flight from BFI to HND, with overnight stops at KOA and GUM, as SKY738A. This 737-8 is also debuting the modified Skymark livery that has the blue section on the tail down to the aft section of the fuselage.

Skymark posted a video digest of JA738A's construction on their YouTube channel.

Skymark Airlines To Delay 737-8 Deliveries

CH-Aviation reports that Japan's Skymark Airlines will push back delivery of their first 737-8 from March to April 2026. Even with the delay, it will still make them Japan's first 737MAX series operator. The airline's first 737-8 will be registered as JA738A, and is about to roll off the assembly line.

Skymark Airlines Unveils Modified Livery

Skymark Airlines will launch a new livery with the arrival of their 737-8s next year. The dark blue of the tail will extend to the aft fuselage. Two hearts will adorn the winglets in place of the other icons that appear on their current 737-800s. Deliveries for their 737-10s will commence as soon as the variant receives its certification.

N381AG

N381AG (c/n 38101, l/n 3803), a 737-8HX, is being ferried from HND to VCV, via GUM, and will stop off at HNL. It was delivered to Skymark Airlines [BC/SKY] (Japan) in October 2011 as JA73NH, under lease from the Aviation Capital Group (ACG). It appears that Skymark is returning this 737 to ACG.

On a related note, ZipanguFlyer reports that Skymark will file for bankruptcy protection with the Japanese courts, as the airline deals with financial issues. It's not known if this lease return has to do with the upcoming bankruptcy filing.

Skymark's JA73NY

Skymark Airlines is taking delivery of JA73NY (c/n 41623, l/n 4633) today. The 737-86N, leased from GECAS, is making its delivery flight from BFI as SKY73NY, and will overnight at HNL. It has been discovered that JA73NY is the last 737-800 to be leased by Skymark. The airline will be transitioning to an A330 and A380 fleet in the next few years, as they seek to expand internationally.

Skymark Airlines is taking delivery of JA73NT (c/n 41264, l/n 4460) today. The 737-86N, leased from GECAS, is making its delivery flight from BFI as SKY73NT (above). Its second leg is scheduled to go from HNL to GUM.

Skymark Airlines is taking delivery of JA73NR (c/n 39927, l/n 4340) today. The 737-8FH, leased from SMBC, is making its delivery flight from BFI as SKY73NR, and will overnight at HNL.

I'm not sure, but this may be the first Japan-bound 737 delivery flight daily double we've had here at HNL.

Skymark Airlines' JA73NL (c/n 38104, l/n 3933), is the newest 737-800 to join their fleet. The 737-8HX, leased from ACG, is making its delivery flight from BFI as SKY73NL. It will overnight at HNL, upon arrival this afternoon. JA73NL is seen above on Taxiway RT for departure to GUM.

Skymark Airlines' JA73NK

Skymark Airlines' JA73NK (c/n 38023, l/n 3883) is the first trans-Pacific 737 delivery flight of 2012 to stop through HNL. The GECAS-leased 737-86N is flying as SKY73NK, and is the first of two delivery flights to stop at HNL today. It's seen above the next morning, taxiing out to Runway 8R, to depart for MAJ.

Skymark Airlines is taking delivery of JA73NH (c/n 38101, l/n 3803) this evening, a 737-8HX leased from ACG. It's making its delivery flight as SKY73NH, and is due at HNL around midnight. JA73NH is seen above in the alleyway fronting the Castle & Cooke Aviation Building.

Skymark's JA73NE

Skymark Airlines' JA73NE (c/n 40713) is making its delivery flight from BFI as SKY73NE. The 737-82Y, leased from MCAP, is the latest addition to the Skymark fleet. It's seen above taxiing to its parking spot at Castle & Cooke Aviation, after arriving from BFI.

On a related note, according to the Reuters News Service, Skymark announced that they intend to triple the size of their fleet within the next four years by adding more 737-800s and the Airbus A380.
