Atlas Air To Acquire Southern Air

AirCargoNews.net is reporting that Atlas Air's parent company, Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings will acquire rival Southern Air Holdings.

Southern Air's N760SA

Normally, Southern Air's 747Fs park at HIK, but this morning, N760SA (c/n 21221, l/n 299), flying as SOO3310 from UAM, parked at HardStand C on the South Ramp (photo above). The flight continued onto SUU a few hours after.

The flight typically originates from OKO and ends at SUU, with stops at UAM and HIK.

Southern Air 747-341F


Southern Air's all white 747-341F (c/n 23394 LN:627) is seen here taxing to Hickam. N789SA has been flying in and out of HNL for the last couple of weeks.


It was originally delivered to VARIG as PP-VNH in the original livery in December 1985, and was repainted in the second generation livery.

Like most 747-300s, this one was converted to a -300M(SF) in 2000, and registered as N354MC with Polar Air Cargo and Atlas Air from August 2000 to March 2004. Prior to joining the Southern Air fleet, it was previously N354FA and N354FC with Focus Air from January 2005 to October 2006.

Southern Air's N752SA


Southern Air's N752SA (c/n 21255), "William Neff", a 747-228F, paid a visit to HIK from DNA (Kadena AB, Okinawa, Japan), via UAM (Andersen AFB, Agana, Guam) today, and it continued on to SUU (Travis AFB, Fairfield, CA) as SOO801. N752SA is seen above departing from the "Reef Runway".

N752SA was originally delivered to Air France Cargo as F-BVPR in March 1976, and acquired by Southern Air in April 2004.
