Federal Express' N867FD

Following the passing of Federal Express founder Frederick W Smith, the airline is paying tribute with an FWS logo on the underside of N867FD "Jaxson" (c/n 40673, l/n 1697, f/n 867). The logo was applied to this 777-F in mid-October 2025. It first appeared at HNL on 30 January 2026 from MEM as FDX1413, and onto OAK as FDX1800 later that day. We got a photo of N867FD this morning while on final approach for Runway 8L as FDX1413 from MEM. It will depart for OAK as FDX 1800 this afternoon.

N899FD "Archer" (c/n 66266, l/n 1784, f/n 899) was the first 777-F to receive the FWS tribute logo in August 2025, and ran to October 2025.

China Halts Boeing Deliveries

The government of the People's Republic of China ordered their airlines not to take deliveries of any Boeing airliners due to the 145% tariff placed on imports on goods made in China. This was done in response to the trade dispute between the US and China.

Currently, Air China has four 737-8s, China Southern Airlines has eight 737-8s, China Eastern Airlines has one 737-8, Xiamen Air has four 737-8s, Shenzhen Airlines has three 737-8s, and Shanghai Airlines has one 737-8 remaining from their initial orders that have yet to be delivered.

There are also three 777-Fs for China Cargo Airlines, and two 777-Fs for Suparna Airlines on order. As for 787s, both China Eastern Airlines and China Southern Airlines have four 787-9s on order; and Juneyao Airlines has one 787-9 awaiting delivery.

FedEx's 777-FS2 N863FD

FedEx's N863FD (c/n 37734, l/n 998) was substituted for the normal MD-11F on FedEx's regularly scheduled MEM-HNL flight, FDX948, on October 26.  It then spent almost 24 hours here in HNL so that the local FedEx employees can get familiarized on handling the 777-FS2.  N863FD then left today, October 27, as FDX1800 to OAK.

This training comes in time for the increased flights FedEx has during the holiday season and should mean that HNL will see FedEx's 777-FS2 more frequently.

FedEx will in the process of retiring their McDonnell-Douglas (now Boeing) MD-11F fleet as they take delivery of 30 new Boeing 777-FS2s. N582FE is seen above, back in 2006, taxiing on Taxiway C after landing on Runway 4R from a flight from OAK.
