China Yunnan Airlines' B-2639

Our March edition of "HNL RareBirds Classic" features China Yunnan Airlines' 737-7W0, B-2639 (c/n 29912, l/n 140), as it made its delivery flight from BFI in December 1998.

B-2639 continues to fly for China Eastern Airlines, as it acquired China Yunnan Airlines [3Q/CYH] in 2003. Since the transfer to China Eastern, it has been painted in the original livery, with the green peacock feather, and the current CES livery. To note the Yunnan division, there are additional Chinese titles on the aft section of the fuselage. In 2011, it had Blended Winglets installed.

China Yunnan's B-2640

Today's HNL RareBird Classic goes back to 1998, when China Yunnan Airlines (3Q/CYH) took delivery of B-2640 (c/n 29913), a 737-7W0. It's seen here being readied for departure on the 8L side of the south ramp.

China Yunnan Airlines was taken over by China Eastern Airlines in 2003, and B-2640 wears the MU colors.
