Cathay Pacific Airlines' B-KQR

A Cathay Pacific Airlines 777-367ER, B-KQR (c/n 41759, l/n 1240), made a diversion to HNL this afternoon. CPA885 was scheduled to fly from LAX to HKG, but made a medical diversion after a passenger fell ill.

B-KQR has been moved to the ‘Ewa Hardstands.

B-KQR continued onto HKG this morning as CPA885D.

United Airlines' N24988

United Airlines' 787-9, N24988 (c/n 37449, l/n 1208, f/n 0988), is diverting to HNL. Flying as UAL153, HKG-LAX, it made the diversion over the central Pacific. This 787-9 is painted in "The Future Is SAF (sustainable aviation fuel)" special livery. It will continue onto LAX this afternoon as UAL3026.

Fiji Airways' DQ-FJW

Fiji Airways' A330-343, DQ-FJW "Island of Rotuma" (msn 1692) is diverting to HNL this morning. Flying as FJI870, NAN-SFO, it made the diversion off the east coast of Hawai‘i Island. It's scheduled to continue onto SFO later in the morning.

Qantas' VH-OQH

Qantas' A380-842, VH-OQH "Reginald Ansett" (msn 50), made a diversion to HNL from SYD this morning. It was scheduled to fly to LAX, but made a medical diversion, and will continue onto LAX later in the morning.

Delta Air Lines' N513DZ Diversion To HNL

Delat Air Lines' A350-941, N513DZ (msn 277, f/n 3513), made a diversion to HNL from its LAX-SYD route. The flight landed on Runway 8R around 02:55L. Because of duty times, the continuing leg to SYD was canceled, and the A350 towed to the ‘Ewa ramp until the flight can continue.

FJI810 Diversions

For two consecutive days, Fiji Airways A350-900s have made diversions to HNL on their FJI810 route, NAN-LAX. 

Yesterday's diversion, flown on DQ-FAI "Island of Viti Levu" (msn 299), made a medical diversion for an ill passenger.

Today's diversion, flown on DQ-FAJ "Island of Vanua Levu" (msn 320), pictured above, made an unspecified technical diversion.

Both diversions lasted about two hours.

Fiji Airways' DQ-FJW Diversion

Fiji Airways' flight FJI811, from LAX to NAN, made a diversion to HNL after a fight broke on board between an Australian national and two passengers. Flight attendants restrained him, and the flight crew made the decision to divert, where the assailant was taken into custody by the FBI. Fiji Airways'  A330-343, DQ-FJW (msn 1692), was the airliner involved.

QFA94 Diversion

Qantas Airways' QFA94 [LAX-MEL] made a diversion to HNL with a medical emergency early this morning. The A380-842, VH-OQA "Nancy Bird-Walton" (msn 014), arrived at HNL shortly after 01:00HST, and departed before 03:00HST.

QFA12 Diversion To HNL

Qantas Airways' VH-OQL "Phyllis Arnott" (msn 074) made a medical diversion at HNL early this morning. The A380-842, flying as QFA12, from LAX to SYD, landed at HNL around 01:00HST, and departed for SYD three hours later.

QFA11 VH-OQF A380

 

Qantas flight QFA11, an A380-842 (VH-OQF "Charles Kingford Smith", msn 029), with direct service between Sydney International Airport (YSSY/SYD) and Los Angeles International Airport (KLAX/LAX), was diverted to Honolulu due to a passenger requiring medical assistance early this morning. The aircraft was in HNL for just over an hour, and continued on to LAX. This is now the second Qantas A380 diversion into HNL within a month.

QFA12 VH-OQH A380

The aircraft was in HNL for two hours, and continued on to SYD.

QFA93 VH-OQJ A380

Qantas flight QFA93, an A380-842 (VH-OQJ "Bert Hinkler", msn 062), with direct service between Melbourne Tullamarine Airport (YMML/MEL) and Los Angeles International Airport (KLAX/LAX), diverted to Honolulu due to a passenger requiring medical assistance early this morning. The aircraft was in HNL for just over an hour, and continued on to LAX. This is now the third Qantas diversion into HNL this month, and of those three, the second A380 this month.

Qantas' VH-OJT

Qantas flight QFA16, VH-OJT "Fraser Island" (c/n 25565, l/n 1233), with direct service between Los Angeles International Airport (KLAX/LAX) and Brisbane (YBBN/BNE) diverted to Honolulu due to a passenger requiring medical assistance early this morning. The 747-438 was in HNL for just over an hour, and was parked at gate 27. This is the second diversion for Qantas here in HNL this week. Earlier this week, a QFA A380 diverted to HNL for medical as well.

QFA12 VH-OQD A380

Qantas flight QFA12, an A380-842 (VH-OQD "Fergus McMaster", msn 026) with direct service between Los Angeles International Airport (KLAX/LAX) and Sydney International Airport (YSSY/SYD) diverted to Honolulu due to a passenger requiring medical assistance early this morning. The aircraft was in HNL for just over an hour and was parked at gate 29. Today's flight, however, will continue onto BNE instead of SYD due to the crew's flight duty time limitations would have exceeded the acceptable time allowed.

QFA16

Earlier this morning, Qantas flight 16 (QFA16) diverted to Honolulu. VH-OJT (c/n 25565, l/n 1233), a 747-438, was scheduled to fly from Los Angeles International (KLAX/LAX) to Brisbane (YBBN/BNE) this morning. It is due to depart later this night.

QFA94

Qantas 94, with direct service between Los Angeles International Airport (KLAX/LAX) and Melbourne Tullamarine Airport (YMML/MEL) diverted to Honolulu due to a passenger requiring medical assistance. VH-OQK, a A380-842 (c/n 63), was unloaded and towed to the hardstands after determining that the crew's flight duty time limitations would exceed the acceptable time allowed. The flight is due to depart for MEL later tonight.

Qantas A380-800

Some pictures from this morning of the first A380 in HNL.

QFA94

Qantas flight QFA94, an A380-842 (VH-OQE "Lawrence Hargrave", msn 027) made an emergency stop at HNL from LAX early this morning. QFA94 normally flies between LAX and MEL. According to sources, an on-board medical emergency caused the super-jumbo to stop at HNL. Sources have told me as well, that HNL Fire/Rescue trucks were standing by along Runway 4R as the A380 landed. Today's flight, however, will continue onto SYD instead of MEL.

This is the first appearance of an A380 at HNL, especially since it's not designed to handle one on a regular basis, but Gate 29 is designated as the gate to handle the Airbus should an emergency arise.
