Fiji Airways' DQ-FJW

Fiji Airways' A330-343, DQ-FJW "Island of Rotuma" (msn 1692) is diverting to HNL this morning. Flying as FJI870, NAN-SFO, it made the diversion off the east coast of Hawai‘i Island. It's scheduled to continue onto SFO later in the morning.

FJI810 Diversions

For two consecutive days, Fiji Airways A350-900s have made diversions to HNL on their FJI810 route, NAN-LAX. 

Yesterday's diversion, flown on DQ-FAI "Island of Viti Levu" (msn 299), made a medical diversion for an ill passenger.

Today's diversion, flown on DQ-FAJ "Island of Vanua Levu" (msn 320), pictured above, made an unspecified technical diversion.

Both diversions lasted about two hours.

Fiji Airways' DQ-FAF


Fiji Airways is taking delivery of their third 737-8 ordered, DQ-FAF (c/n 64310, l/n 7726), this evening. It's making its delivery flight from BFI as FJI2205, and will make a stop at HNL.

Fiji Airways' DQ-FAH

Fiji Airways is taking delivery of their second 737-8 in three days, with DQ-FAH "Island of Ovalau" (c/n 64311, l/n 7881). This 737-8 is making its delivery flight from BFI to NAN (via HNL) as FJI2203, and will make an overnight stop here.

Fiji Airways' DQ-FAE

Fiji Airways is taking delivery of DQ-FAE "Island of Koro" (c/n 64309, l/n 7668) today. This 737-8, the first TransPacific delivery flight since the groundings, is flying from BFI to NAN (via HNL) as FJI2201.

Fiji Airways Retires DQ-FJF

Fiji Airways has retired its lone 737-7X2, DQ-FJF "Island of Koro" (c/n 28878, l/n 96). This 737 was quite the frequent visitor to HNL as Fiji Airways (and previously Air Pacific) used it on the NAN-CXI-HNL, and the NAN-APW-HNL routes. It's making its retirement / lease return flight from NAN to MME [Teeside International Airport, Darlington, UK], via HNL, LAX, and BGR as FJI2002. Fiji Airways had a retirement event that they posted on their Instagram page.

DQ-FJF was delivered to Air Pacific in September 1998, named "Island of Koro". It remained in the fleet when the airline was rebranded as Fiji Airways. In September 2017, FJF was sold to Willis Lease, and leased back. It was withdrawn from service earlier this month.

Fiji Airways Retires DQ-FJG

After 20 years of service to Fiji Airways/Air Pacific, DQ-JFG (msn 29968, l/n 275) is being retired and will be parted out. It's being ferried from NAN to SFB [Sanford, FL], via HNL and LAX as FJI2002.

Fiji Airways DQ-FJH

Fiji Airways is ferrying DQ-FJH "Island of Gau" (c/n 29969, l/n 339) from NAN to SBD, via HNL. This 737-8X2 is flying from NAN to HNL as FJI2008, and HNL to SBD as FJI2009. It's due to be parted out, and scrapped.

DQ-FJH was delivered to Air Pacific (the former name of Fiji Airways) in August 1999. In September 2017, it was sold to WLFC, and leased back. This airliner was a frequent visitor to HNL from APW and NAN.

Fiji Airways' DQ-FAD

Fiji Airways is taking delivery of DQ-FAD "Island of Gau" (c/n 64308, l/n 7313) this evening. This 737 MAX 8, making a very rare New Year's Day delivery flight, is flying from BFI as FJI2001, and will make an overnight stop at HNL.

Fiji Airways is taking delivery of their first 737 MAX 8 tonight. DQ-FAB "Island of Kadavu" (c/n 64307, l/n 7252), is making its delivery flight from BFI as FJI2001, and will make a two-day stop at HNL.

Fiji Airways' DQ-FJW Diversion

Fiji Airways' flight FJI811, from LAX to NAN, made a diversion to HNL after a fight broke on board between an Australian national and two passengers. Flight attendants restrained him, and the flight crew made the decision to divert, where the assailant was taken into custody by the FBI. Fiji Airways'  A330-343, DQ-FJW (msn 1692), was the airliner involved.

Fiji Airways DQ-FJF

Fiji Airways' 737-7X2, DQ-FJF "Island of Koro" (c/n 28878, l/n 96) is now wearing a decal noting the COP23 Fiji United Nations Climate Change Conference. It's seen above departing Runway 8R, this afternoon as FJI823 to CXI.

Fiji Airways Orders 737 MAX8s

Boeing and Fiji Airways announced that the airline will order five 737 MAX8s as replacement for its current 737NG fleet. The first two are slated for delivery in 2018.

Fiji Airways Name Change Official

Beginning today, Fiji Airways becomes the official name and branding of the Fijian carrier. The Air Pacific name and branding is retired. Their A330-243s and a couple of their 737NGs have already received the new livery, and the remaining aircraft will be repainted.

Fiji Airways DQ-FJG

Fiji's flagship airline, Air Pacific will re-launch as Fiji Airways starting in June 2013 to coincide with the delivery of three new A330-243s. Air Pacific's fleet of 737s have begun to receive the new livery.

Seen above is a freshly painted 737-8X2, DQ-FJG (c/n 29968, l/n 275) departing as FJI823 to Cassidy International (PLCH/CXI), Kiritimati (Christmas Island).

Air Pacific Re-Brands To Fiji Airways

Today, Air Pacific revealed their re-branded look and name as Fiji Airways, as they welcome their three new A330-200s, and a 737-800. Fiji Airways was actually the original name when the airline started in 1951. The existing fleet will be re-painted to the new brand as well.
