N352CJ

N352CJ (msn 340B-352), a Saab 340B operated by Airborne Imaging, is making a stop at HIK from NTD as ARZ352. This SF340B operates as a multi-sensor test platform.

340B-352's History:
Dec 1993: Delivered to Simmons Airlines as N352SB (f/n SDN), to operate for American Eagle, under lease from AMR Leasing.
Feb 1994: Leased to Wings West Airlines to operate for American Eagle.
May 1998: Leased to American Eagle Airlines to operate for American Eagle.
Jly 2002: Acquired by Chicago Express Airlines to operate for ATA Connection, and re-registered as N317CE a month later.
May 2005: Sold to Colgan Air  to operate for Continental Connection.
Nov 2005: Re-registered as N352CJ.
Oct 2010: Operating for United Express.
Apr 2014: Sold to Bank of Utah.
Aug 2018: Acquired by Aviation Inventory Resources.
Apr 2020: Leased to Airborne Imaging.

Southern Airways' N95SA

Southern Airways is ferrying N95SA "The Phil LeFevre" (msn 340B-345) from HNL to SGF, via CNO as  FDY211. This Saab 340B has not flown since February 2024. It's seen above, shortly after its delivery flight wearing its previous registration.

Southern Airways' N79SA

Southern Airways is ferrying N79SA "The Phil Trenary" (msn 340B-334) from HNL to SGF [Springfield Airport, Springfield, MO], via CNO [Chino Airport, Chino, CA], as FDY205. This Saab 340B has been out of service since July 2024.

Mokulele To Increase MKK and LNY Service

Mokulele Airlines announced that they will increase service to MKK and LNY. They will add a third Saab SF340B to the two they have in service. They will also add three Tecnam P2012 Traveller nine-seat twin-turboprops (see following paragraph), as some of their Cessna C208B Grand Caravans go in for maintenance and repaint. The registration of the third SF340B has not been disclosed.

On a related note, Marianas Southern Airways is terminating its service in the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands (CNMI) due to the government's cancellation of its contract with the airline. The three P2012s, N401CJ (049/US), N503SA (041/US), and N504SA (048/US), will be transferred to Mokulele, and used as reserve aircraft, as well as for private charters.

Southern Receives N334CJ

Southern Airways has taken delivery of its second Saab SF340B, N334CJ "The Phil Trenary" (msn 340B-334), this evening. Still flying under the previous owner's flight code, it made the trek from DUJ to HNL, via LNS, MEM,WCT, TOR, and RNT, as SBS9102.

Southern Airways Express' N679PA

Southern Airways Express is taking delivery of N679PA "The Phil LeFevre" (msn 340B-345) today. This Saab SF-340B is making its delivery flight from DUJ (via XMD, and RNT). It will eventually be re-registered as N95SA.

Mokulele To Receive Two Saab 340Bs

Mokulele Airlines' parent company, Southern Airways Express, is bringing in a pair of Saab 340Bs to compliment their Cessna C208B fleet. They will be assigned to MKK and LNY flights, and cabins configured to accommodate 30 passengers, and be wearing the Southern livery.

The first SF340B is currently registered as N679PA (msn 340B-345), and will be re-registered as N95SA "The Phil LeFevre" . The second SF340B is currently registered as N334CJ (msn 340B-334), and will be re-registered as N79SA "The Phil Trenary.".

Aloha Air Cargo Bids Aloha ‘Oe To The SF340AF

Aloha Air Cargo has ended their Saab SF340AF turboprop operations. N843KH was the last of the three Saab freighters to be ferried out of HNL, that left on September 14th for BGR. The cargo firm decided to concentrate on their 737-300F fleet, and the ABX Air charter for their LAX service.

Aloha ‘Oe N845KH

Aloha Air Cargo has returned N845KH "Kupa‘a" (msn 340A-111) to WFBN. It's being ferried to the mainland as N845KH, with its first stop being VGT.

N135GU

N135GU (msn 340A-135), a Saab SF340A/QC, acquired by Skydive Guam, is making its ferry flight from INT (Smith Reynolds Airport, Winston-Salem, NC) to GUM, via MQY, DUX, CHD, MCE, JRF, and MAJ. It's making its overnight stop at JRF tonight. It departed INT on the 24th, and is expected to reach GUM on the 31st.

340A-135 was originally delivered to Finnaviation in November 1988 as OH-FAD. When Finnair merged with Finnaviation, OH-FAD was transferred to the Finnair fleet. In March 2000, it was sold to Flying Enterprise AB (Sweden) as SE-KCU, then transferred to the Skyways Enterprise fleet in October 2001. In September 2005, it was sold to Sky Express (Poland) as SP-KPF. In March 2008, Sky Express re-branded itself into SprintAir, and also became an all-cargo carrier, with their SF340 fleet converted to a Quick Change interior. Skydive Guam acquired this SF340 in October 2015, and had the skydiving modifications done at INT.

N420XJ

N420XJ (msn 340B-420), a Saab SF340B, is ferrying from BGR [Bangor International Airport, Bangor, ME] to ADL [Adelaide International Airport, Australia], via LUM, RNT, ITO, APW, OOL and OAG. It arrived tonight from RNT at ITO, and will join the REX - Regional Express fleet.

This SF340B was originally delivered to Mesaba Airlines in June 1997. It operated as part of the Northwest Airlines Express network, then part of the Delta Air Lines network. In July 2011, it was acquired by Colgan Air, then a year later sold to Silver Airways (f/n 301).

Aloha Air Cargo's N845KH

Aloha Air Cargo's third Saab SF340AF, N845KH (msn 340A-111) appears to be in service. For a couple of months, it appeared that 845 did not move from Spot 80 on the Elliott Street ramp. Unlike Aloha's other two company-owned Saabs, 845 is under lease from Wells Fargo Bank Northwest.

340A-111 was originally delivered to Brockway Air (part of the Piedmont Commuter network) in December 1987 as N745BA. It was acquired by Business Express (BEX, Delta Connection) in May 1991. Quebec Express acquired it in February 2004, and registered it as C-GQXK. It then went to Air Åland in February 2006 as LY-KXE and SE-KEX. NextJet leased it in August 2012, for a brief period. It was converted to a freighter in October 2013, and acquired by WFBN.

PenAir's N364PX Returned

A couple of weeks ago, Island Air returned the wet-leased PenAir SF340B, N364PX (msn 340B-262), since the Island Air ATR72, N348AE, has been performing proving and training runs to Island Air destinations.

Hoaloha Blessing

Today, Island Air held a blessing of the Pen Air Saab SF340B, N364PX, in their hangar. The plane was named "Hoaloha" (friend in Hawaiian) by Island Air employees Summer Harrell (center, back) and Larry Kuamo‘o (center, front). Kahu Kelekona Bishaw blesses "Hoaloha" as Pen Air Captain Kirk Watson looks on. N364PX will begin service on March 1.

PenAir's N364PX

One of PenAir's (Peninsula Airways, Anchorage, AK [KS/PEN]) Saab SF340Bs, N364PX (msn 340B-262), has arrived at HNL, and is seen above on the Island Air ramp.

It's being wet-leased from Pen Air to replace N809WP, as it service time is reaching its limits. Island Air is supplying the cabin crew for the SF340B.

Aloha Air Cargo's Next Saab

The 2nd Saab SF340AF for Aloha Air Cargo, N844KH (msn 340A-108), has arrived in HNL. It is currently parked in front of the maintenance hangar. More information to follow.

Aloha Air Cargo's N843KH


Aloha Air Cargo's first Saab SF340AF is due to arrive today from ROW (via HII). It is the first of two SF340BFs that will fly cargo to smaller Hawai‘i airports, and supplement their three 737-200Cs. N843KH (msn 340A-046), is the first SF340AF to arrive from ROW. A second SF340AF is expected in late summer.

340A-046 was originally delivered to Express Airlines I as N323PX in March 1986. It then went to Mesaba Airlines in August 1997. It was converted to a freighter and re-registered as N46XJ while with Mesaba, then acquired by Saint-Ex Cargo (Mexico) in January 2007. It received a Mexican registry of XA-STX. In March 2010, it was stored at ROW.

Aloha Air Cargo To Add SF340s

Aloha Air Cargo is adding two Saab SF340BF freighters to their fleet next year. The two converted freighters are expected before the summer of 2011, and will bring the fleet total to six (with their four 737-200Cs).

N384AE


A former American Eagle Saab 340B/Plus, N384AE (msn 340B-384), is en route from BNA (Nashville International Airport, TN) via HII (Lake Havasu City Airport, AZ) and LGB (Daughtery Field, Long Beach, CA).

N384AE is seen above taxiing to Runway 4R to depart for NAN. It's headed for Australia to join the Regional Express (ZL/HZL) fleet as VH-LKH (note the last three letters on the nose gear door).

MacAir's VH-UYN


MacAir Airlines PTY (CC / MCK) of Townsville, Queensland, Australia (TSV), took delivery of VH-UYN (msn 340B-348), a Saab 340B. It's seen in the photo above, taken yesterday, as it taxied to Runway 8R.

VH-UYN originally began with American Eagle Airlines (MQ / EGF) as N906AE, then as N348SB. It was later taken up by Chicago Express Airlines (C8 / WDY) which flew all of their flights ATA Connection, and re-registered as N316CE.
