In the latest Airport Diagram published by the Federal Aviation Administration, the Honolulu International Airport has been renamed as the Daniel K Inouye International Airport. The IATA Code HNL, and ICAO Code PHNL will remain unchanged, as well as the air traffic control call sign of "Honolulu". The old tower building has the Honolulu International Airport signage removed on the side facing the Interstate H1 freeway.
The airport was named for the late US Senator, who served in Congress for almost 50 years. He passed away five years ago.
