Upon receiving federal government approval, Allegiant Air's acquisition of Sun Country Airlines closes today. The two airlines will continue to operate separately.

On a related note, Sun Country Airlines has painted N826SY in the airline's 1990-era livery. Reminiscent of the DC-10s that flew between LAX and HNL in the mid-1990s, that bore the same livery.
