Aloha ‘Oe N9796N

N9796N (c/n 43375), the former Kamaka Air Super DC-3, has been further dismantled and packed by PMX Aviation, in order to be put on ship to send to the Port of Los Angeles. It will be restored and reassembled by the Fourrier Foundation (its current owner), and made airworthy to fly again in the future.

PMX documented the dismantling process on their Instagram page.

EDITORIAL
It was a pleasure to see this Super DC-3 after its restoration in 2004, and to see it fly cargo inter-island. Working on the article for Airways Magazine in 2005, with two friends, researching its past with the US Navy, as well as its former owners in Canada, and the Kamaka Air staff was a labor of love. I'm glad the new owners are in the process of restoring the portions of N9796N that were sent ahead of the fuselage that's left. Wonder if it will wear a new livery once the fuselage makes it to its destination for repairs and assembly. One thing I do know, that distinct hum of its Wright radial engines will cut through where ever it will fly in the future. This will be a new chapter in the life of N9796N ... Aloha ‘oe ... Farewell.
