Hawai‘i-based Aircraft Aid Sāmoa Tsunami

A US Coast Guard C-130H based at Kalaeloa (fka NAS Barbers Point), a US Air Force / Hawai‘i Air National Guard C-17A, and a Hawaiian Air 767-300ER (N590HA) have provided relief flights to aid the victims, recovery, and clean-up of the devastating earthquake and tsunami that affected American Sāmoa, the Independent State of Sāmoa, and the KIngdom of Tonga.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families directly affected by these disasters.

FedEx To Retire MD-11Fs

FedEx will in the process of retiring their McDonnell-Douglas (now Boeing) MD-11F fleet as they take delivery of 30 new Boeing 777-FS2s. The MD-11F is a common sight on the south cargo ramp with both FedEx and UPS moving parcels between the mainland and HNL. No word when we'll begin to see the 777Fs at HNL.

N582FE is seen above, back in 2006, taxiing on Taxiway C after landing on Runway 4R from a flight from OAK.

Pacific Air Express' N866MA

Pacific Air Express is the latest entrant in the inter-island air cargo market. Using three Cessna C208BF Grand Cargomasters owned by Leis Air LLC, they will be flying cargo for Pacific Air Cargo, which uses Kalitta Air (LAX, HNL, PPG, HKG) and Asia Pacific Airlines (HNL, GUM, MAJ, KWA, SPN)

Seen above is N866MA (msn 208B0934) in the Pacific Air Express colors, it was formerly with Mokulele Airlines, along with fleetmates N687MA and N865MA.

Shandong's B-5452

Shandong AIrlines is taking delivery of their latest 737-85N(W), B-5452 (c/n 36777). It's making its trip across the Pacific as CDG5452.

China Southern's B-5469

China Southern Airlines' B-5469 (c/n 35387), a 737-81B, is making its delivery flight across the Pacific as CSN930.

USAF B-52's

Late Monday morning (28 SEPT 2009) two USAF B-52H Stratofortress aircraft touched down on 8R at PHNL. The "Memphis Belle IV" 60-0001 (cn 464366) and also B-52H 60-0004 (464431) both out of Barksdale AFB, LA.

China Eastern's B-5473

China Eastern Airlines is taking delivery of B-5473 (c/n 36763), a 737-89P(W), and is making its flight home as CES299.

Shanghai Airlines' new 737-76D(W), B-5260 (c/n 35777) is flying as CSH260 on its island-hopping delivery flight from BFI to PVG.

China Southern Airlines' B-5252 (c/n 35382) is the latest addition to their 737-71B fleet, and its making its way toward China as CSN252.

Air China's B-5438

Air China's newest 737-86N leased from ILFC is B-5438 (c/n 36816). It's on its delivery flight from BFI as CCA58, and arrived here earlier today.

US Marines' C-9B

A US Marine Corps C-9B "Skytrain II", BuNo 160047 (c/n 47687) of VMR-1 "Roadrunners", is visiting HNL, from its base at MCAS Cherry Point, NC.

Sabreliner N376D

Nice to see this today at Kahului. It had been parked at the east ramp for a few days between a BBJ and a Gulfstream - and it was the coolest of the three. It's a 1981 (c/n 465-76).

Thunderbirds At HIK

The US Air Force Thunderbirds Aerial Demonstration Squadron headlines the "Wings Over The Pacific" airshow at Hickam Air Force Base this weekend.

The six-ship delta formation begins their climb into a loop during today's performance.

Ex-Qantas ZK-JNN

An ex-Qantas (JetConnect) 737-376, ZK-JNN (c/n 24295), is making its way to MZJ via ONT as QFA6024. It made a stop at HNL after beginning its trek from SYD, via APW.

N88ZL

N88ZL, the 707-330B owned by LOWA Ltd, made a tech stop at HNL early this morning. According to some reports, the classic Boeing was carrying pop star Beyoncé and rapper Jay-Z, who were on their way to MEL to perform a concert there.

Air China's B-5437

Air China's latest 737-86N, leased from ILFC, is B-5437 (c/n 36815). It's flying as CCA58, and made its first stop at HNL from BFI today, and continues across the Pacific tomorrow. It's parked on the AirService Hawai‘i ramp while it overnights.

Shenzhen's B-5441

Shenzhen Airlines has taken delivery of B-5441 (c/n 35536), a 737-87L(W), and is flying as CSZ916. It arrived HNL today, and will continue onto MAJ tomorrow morning. It's overnighting on the AirService Hawai‘i ramp.

Hawaiian's Raiders Jet

This year's aircraft for the Oakland Raiders charters, N593HA, has had its special decal applied to the fuselage. This season is also the Oakland Raiders' 50th anniversary and N593HA is wearing a special 50th anniversary decal instead of the normal Raiders logo.

Qantas' VH-VZG

Qantas' VH-VZG "Sir William Hudson" (c/n 34201), a 737-838(W), also made its delivery flight from BFI as QFA6020. It will be transferred to their Qantas JetConnect, and be registered as ZK-ZQB.

Xiamen's B-5458

Xiamen Airlines is taking delivery of B-5458 (c/n 35055), a 737-85C(W), that is flying as CXA5458. It's seen above taxiing toward its parking spot after landing on Runway 4R from BFI.
