According to a report on this morning's Hawaii News Now's "Sunrise" news show, Howard Dicus reported that Hawaiian Airlines is flying four round-trip charters between SDJ [Sendai, Japan] and HNL for Japan Travel Bureau (JTB). Hawaiian is using one of their 767-300ERs for the service. The first flight from SDJ arrived this past Saturday, and the return flight is Wednesday.
This is one of the first flights between HNL and the Sendai region that was devastated by the March 11, 2011 earthquake and tsunami.
Previously, JALWays used to fly seasonal charters between SDJ and HNL.
