We bid Aloha ‘oe to the gentle giant. Sadly, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has confirmed that Russian invasion forces have destroyed the lone Antonov An-225 Mriya, UR-82060 (c/n 19530503763, l/n 01-01) as they launched a second attack on Gostomel Airport, where the Antonov Design Bureau is based. According to Sam Chui's website, various outlets in the Ukraine, including Antonov, confirm the destruction of the world's largest aircraft.

There have been three times that the An-225 visited HNL. In 2005, the Mriya stopped to pick up historic rail cars to take to the midwest, and returned the cars a few week later. In 2009, following the earthquake and tsunami in American Sāmoa, the An-225 transported FEMA electrical generators to PPG, with a stop at HNL. And in 2018, it stopped here on its way to GUM, to deliver FEMA relief supplies after a typhoon hit Guam.

Antonov Airlines' UR-82060

Antonov Airlines' An-225 "Mriya", UR-82060 (c/n 19530503763, l/n 01-01), is making a stop at HNL from OAK, to deliver FEMA relief supplies to Guam, after is was hit by Typhoon Manghut. It's making the flight as ADB2586. This is the third time since 2005, that the massive An-225, has made a stop at HNL.

AN-124 versus AN-225

Here's a comparison shot of the Volga-Dnepr AN-124 and Antonov AN-225. From where I took this shot the AN-225 was around 70 yards away and the AN-124 was about 240 yards away (about another 70 yards behind the AN-225).

Sorry it is not a side-by-side shot, but the two aircraft were separated by a Delta 757 and were positioned in a v-shape due to the angled parking position the AN-225 was in.

The Antonov An-225 "Mriya", UR-82060 (msn 19530503763) is scheduled to arrive @ HNL this evening as ADB3688. It's a relief flight from PIA (Greater Peoria Regional Airport, IL) that will continue onto PPG to provide generators by FEMA.

ADB3688 is scheduled to arrive around noon today.
