Hawai‘i Rainbow Warriors' Team Charter

The Hawai‘i Rainbow Warriors football team is chartering a Hawaiian Airlines A321-271N for their road trip to ELP, where they will play the University of Texas - El Paso (UTEP) Miners. N209HA "‘Iliahi" (msn 8186, f/n 209) is flying the 'Bows from HNL to ELP, with a fuel stop at LGB, as ASA9681. This will be Hawai‘i's first trip to play UTEP on the road since 2004, when both teams were part of the Western Athletic Conference.

Upcoming 737MAX Deliveries

With airlines around Asia and Oceania ordering the 737MAX series, a majority of these airliners will stop through Hawai‘i (mainly HNL) during the first segment of their island-hopping delivery flights from Boeing Field (BFI) [map]. Boeing has indicated that the variants will be referred to as the -x without the MAX name, we will do the same.

We have our own Google Sheet that is documenting the 737 information below, as well as 737MAX series deliveries as of 2017, and is continuously updated.

Boeing P-8A Poseidons and E-7A WedgeTails on order for armed forces around the Pacific Rim will be added below when information becomes available.

This post will be continuously updated as we receive new information, and this » symbol notates the newest information per airframe.

According to the PlaneSpotters.net's 737 MAX Production List, RZ Jets 737MAX Production List, and the AirFleets 737NG/MAX Production List, these listed below are the airframes that have begun final assembly, made its first flight from RNT, or are being readied for delivery on the BFI flightline. Those listed "On Order", should make a stopover in Hawai‘i on their first segment out of BFI on their delivery flights. Those listed in the "Delivered" and "Ferried to HSN For Completion", will be listed fore the calendar month. Most 737s delivering to airlines in India will deliver east-bound through KEF [Keflavik International Airport, Keflavik, Iceland] as their first fuel stop. Some 737s delivering to airlines in east Asia (Japan, South Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam) deliver through ANC [Ted Stevens International Airport, Anchorage, AK] for their first fuel stop. Some of the deliveries bound for China will ferry to the Boeing China 737 Completion and Delivery Center, at Putuoshan Airport, Zhoushan, China [HSN], will have its own listing above, along with a Boeing test flight number, and a temporary US Boeing registration assigned to the particular airframe. Virgin Australia Regional's VH-E2F

Virgin Australia Regional is taking delivery of VH-E2F (msn 19020248). This E190-E2 is making its delivery from SJK to PER, with stops at BGI, OPF, TUS, KOA, NAN, and BNE, as VOZ9943. It's overnight stop at KOA is tonight.

Alaska Airlines' N785HA

Alaska Airlines' sixth 787-9 DreamLiner, N785HA (c/n 66469, l/n 1340, f/n 785), is making its first trip to HNL from LAX as ASA9983. It had been since at LAX it was delivered on 29 October from CHS as ASA9984.

ZK-OJR

ZK-OJR (msn 4884), a former Air New Zealand A320-232 is ferrying from CHC to P08, with stops at AKL, RAR, and HNL. The CHC-AKL leg was flown as ANZ6202, and the remaining legs as ANZ6024.

ZK-OJR's History:

Nov 2011: Delivered to Air New Zealand, painted in the All Blacks special livery, and under lease from BOC.

Aug 2014: Painted in the current livery.

May 2021: Sold to Sirius Aviation Capital, and the lease was transferred.

Sep 2026: Withdrawn from service, titles and logos painted over, and stored at CHC.

Washington Huskies Team Charter

The Washington Huskies football team is chartering a Hawaiian Airlines A330-243 for their road trip to play the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Saturday. N391HA "Hokulei" (msn 1399, f/n 391) is flying the Huskies from BFI to LNK as ASA9680.

The Huskies returned to BFI aboard N391HA after their 17-10 win over the Cornhuskers.

Korean Air Renumbers Second ICN-HNL Service

The second Korean Air flight from ICN that was flying as KAL8053/8054 to supplement the former Asiana Airlines flight following consolidation, is now flying as KAL51/52. This five-times-weekly service is operated with their 787-9s.

Vietravel Airlines' N677NK

SKY Leasing is delivering N677NK (msn 7690) from TUS to HAN, for lease to Vietravel Airlines. This former Spirit Airlines A321-231 is making an overnight stop at JRF, then stops at MAJ, and GUM. It will receive its Vietnamese registration before being inducted into service.

N677NK's History:

Jly 2017: Delivered to Spirit Airlines (f/n 677).

___ 2020: Fleet number changed to 5677.

Dec 2023: Sold to SKY Leasing, and leased back.

May 2026: Withdrawn from service as Spirit Airlines shutdown, and stored at MZJ.

Hawai‘i Rainbow Warriors Team Charter

The Hawai‘i Rainbow Warriors are embarking on their farthest road trip this season to play the Northern Illinois University Huskies on Saturday. The 'Bows are chartering a Hawaiian Airlines A321-271N, N212HA "Wiliwili" (msn 8129, f/n 212), for the trip as ASA9685. The overnight flight will make a fuel stop at OAK, before continuing onto RFD [Chicago/Rockford International Airport, Rockford, IL]. N212HA and crew will remain at RFD to fly the 'Bows back following the game. The Huskies are one of several new teams to the Mountain West Conference, and the furthest east of the ten-school conference.

24 October 2026 UPDATE

N212HA is bringing home the Rainbow Warriors following their 56-21 win over the Huskies as ASA9681. It will make a fuel stop at OAK then continue onto HNL.

FAA Certifies The 737-10

The Federal Aviation Administration has certified the Boeing 737-10 for commercial service, which clears the way for airlines to take delivery of the largest 737MAX variant.

On the heels of this certification, Boeing began building 737-10s at both assembly lines at Renton and Everett over the past month. 

All four major US airlines (Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Airlines, and United Airlines) have the 737-10 on order. Airlines around the Pacific Rim including: Virgin Australia, Skymark Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Okay Air, Donghai Airlines, VietJet Air, and the Lion Air Group, also have the 737-10 on order.

It will be interesting to see which airlines assign the 737-10 to their Hawai‘i routes when they enter service.

Amazon Prime Air's N379AZ

Amazon Prime Air's N379AZ (c/n 25200, l/n 433) was forced to return to HNL this morning, after departing for ONT as ATN3369. Operated by Air Transport International, the crew of this 767-323ERF was notified of a bomb threat. The 767 squawked 7700 (emergency), and landed on Runway 8R with ARFF standing by. It taxied down Taxiways R , then J to the Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam Hot Cargo Pad on the south side of Taxiway B for inspection by law enforcement agencies. After no bomb was found, it was cleared to be towed.

National Airlines' A330-243, N828CA (msn 1279, f/n 828), is making a stop at HNL this afternoon, from MCO as NCR709.

1279's History:

Oct 2012: Leased to TACA Perú, and was painted in the Star Alliance livery.

May 2013: Leased to Avianca Perú, still in the Star Alliance livery.

N360HA "Tutukamolehonua" (msn 1732, f/n 360) is flying from BFI to IND as ASA9860. This A330 re-positioned this morning from SEA as ASA9940., and had arrived at SEA last night as ASA930 from OGG. N360HA will remain at IND to fly the Huskies back to BFI.

New Mexico Lobos Team Charter

The University of New Mexico Lobos football team is chartering a Sun Country Airlines 737-800 for their Saturday road game against the Hawai‘i Rainbow Warriors. N819SY (c/n 34254, l/n 1897), a 737-86N, is flying the Lobos from ABQ to HNL, via OAK, as SCX8411.

17 October 2026 UPDATE

The Lobos will return to ABQ (via OAK) tonight, aboard N819SY as SCX8411, following their 21-10 win over the Rainbow Warriors.

QantasLink's C-FIWE

Sunstate Airlines is taking delivery of C-FIWE "Rockhampton" (msn 4466). This QantasLink-liveried Dash8-402 Q400, flown by JD Aero, is making its delivery flight from YAM to BNE, with stops at OMA, CCR, JRF, and MAJ. Its overnight stop at JRF is tonight. This Q400 will be registered as VH-84H after its handed over to Sunstate Airlines. C-FIWE is the last of the former WestJet Q400s to be acquired by Sunstate Airlines.

4466's History:

Apr 2014: Delivered to Westjet Encore as C-FIWE (f/n 411).

Apr 2026: Withdrawn from service, and stored at YAM.

Jun 2026: Acquired by JD Aero to ferry for Sunstate Airlines.

Japan Airlines Orders 16 E190-E2s

Japan Airlines has placed an order with Embraer for 16 E190-E2s (and an option for an additional ten). These E190-E2s will be assigned to J-Air, JAL Group's regional airline based at ITM [Ōsaka International Airport, Itami, Japan] with deliveries scheduled to begin in 2029. The E2s will eventually replace the existing E170 and E190 fleet.

Federal Express' N901FD

Federal Express is ferrying N901FD "Sedona" (c/n 27122, l/n 525, f/n 901) from MEM to HNL, via OAK as FDX9037. This 757-2B7F will replace one of the current 757s flying the inter-island runs.

Feb 1993: Delivered to US Air as N610AU (f/n 610).

Feb 1997: Airline re-brands as US Airways.

Feb 2007: Acquired by Federal Express, and converted to a freighter.

May 2007: Re-registered as N901FD "Tucker".

N323CM

Cargo Aircraft Management is ferrying N323CM (c/n 29881, l/n 778) from SZB to ILN, with stops at JRF and GUM. This 767-316F had been leased to Raya Airways, but it did not enter service. It had "Above & Beyond" titles applied to the fuselage, and the engine cowlings and Blended Winglets painted yellow. Its overnight stop at JRF is tonight.

N323CM stopped through HNL in October 2025, on its way to SZB.

Coulson Aviation's N382CG

Coulson Aviation's C-130H, N382CG (msn 382-4336, f/n 138), is making a stop at KOA, as it transits to Australia for their summer aerial firefighting season. This C-130 is making its flight from TRM to XRH, with stops at SMX, KOA, and PPG, as CUL138.

VP-CTT

Phenix Jet Cayman's 737-7ZH BBJ, VP-CTT (c/n 38751, l/n 3796), is making a stop at HNL today from NRT this morning as CPJ88, and is parked on the North Ramp. This is VP-CTT's third stopover at HNL this year.

Aloha ‘Oe PH-HZO

In November 2007, Aloha Airlines leased PH-HZO (c/n 34169, l/n 2243), a 737-8K2, from Transavia until April 2008. It wore a hybrid livery with the Bird of Paradise logo on the tail, a small Aloha wordmark, the Transavia stripes, and was given the name "Makali‘i". PH-HZO was used on Aloha's TransPacific service between OGG and SMF.

Skyliner-aviation.de reports that PH-HZO as ferried from AMS to DGX [MOD St. Athan Airport / Brother Tathan Airfield, Glamgoran, Wales, UK] on 07 October, where it will be stored, before it is to be parted out, and scrapped. This 737-8K2 may have only flown with Aloha Airlines for five months, but it was part of the airline's history, as the only 737-800 variant to fly for Aloha Airlines.

PH-HZO's History:

Apr 2007: Delivered to Transavia, under lease from SAAM.

Nov 2007: Subleased to Aloha Airlines for five months.

Nov 2011: Subleased to Aeroméxico for five months.

Apr 2013: Sold to SMBC, and the lease was transferred.

Dec 2015: Subleased to Sun Country Airlines for four months.

Dec 2016: Subleased to Sun Country Airlines for four months.

Dec 2017: Painted in the current Transavia livery.

Sep 2026: Withdrawn from service, and stored at AMS.

QantasLink's VH-UYN

Alliance Airlines' VH-UYN (msn 19000095) is returning to Australia after maintenance work at SJO. This QantasLink-liveried ERJ-190AR is being ferried by Southern Cross International as SXI2632 from SJO to BNE, with stops at SDM, JRF, and PPG. Its overnight stop at JRF is scheduled for tonight.

VH-UYN stopped through JRF on 25 August en route to SJO.

Federal Express' N782FX

Corporate Air is ferrying N782FX (msn 408-0059) from GTF to HNL, with stops at VGT (for ferry tanks) and SMX. This C408F will be the fifth SkyCourier in Federal Express' inter-island operation. N782FX was delivered to Corporate Air in March 2026.

Hawai‘i Rainbow Warriors Team Charter

The Hawai‘i Rainbow Warriors have chartered a Hawaiian Airlines A321-271N for their road trip to play the Arizona State Sun Devils. N216HA "Māmane" (msn 8471, f/n 216) is flying the 'Bows from HNL to PHX as ASA9681. This A321N will remain at PHX to fly the 'Bows home following the game.

The last time Hawai‘i played Arizona State was in the 2006 Sheraton Hawai‘i Bowl, where Hawai‘i won 41-24.

11 October 2026 UPDATE

The Rainbow Warriors returned home aboard N216HA, as ASA9681, following their 30-12 loss to the Sun Devils.

N950TR

N950TR (c/n 30751, l/n 401), a 737-7CG BBJ owned by Ohio Resources LLC, and operated by Clay Lacy Aviation (now Solairus Aviation), is making a stop at HNL from DJT [President Donald J Trump International Airport, Palm Beach, FL], with a stop at OGG. This BBJ is used by motivational speaker Tony Robbins, arrived on 02 October.

QantasLink's VH-UYO

Southern Cross International is ferrying QantasLink's ERJ-190AR, VH-UYO (msn 19000098), from BNE to SJO, with stops at APW, JRF, and SDM, flying as SXI2631. It's overnight stop at JRF is tonight.

This E190 stopped through HNL in February 2021, as it was being delivered to Alliance Airlines as N998QQ. In October 2023, VH-UYO was painted in the QantasLink livery, and operated by Alliance Airlines. It's last revenue flight was operated on 25 September 2026.

Icelandair's TF-FIC

Icelandair's TF-FIC (c/n 30735, f/n 931) is making a stop at HNL today from LAX as ICE1442. This 757-23N is on a charter flight for Abercrombie & Kent (with a special livery), and the flight originated at KEF yesterday. This 757 will be here for a brief fuel stop before continuing onto RAR.

Alaska Airlines' N532AS

Alaska Airlines is ferrying N532AS (c/n 36346, l/n 3317, f/n 532) from SEA to HNL as ASA1889, as it will be assigned to to fly the supplemental HNL-OGG-HNL service, alongside Hawaiian Airlines. This 737-890 will fly under the ASA14xx flight code during its deployment to HNL, beginning tomorrow.

05 October 2026 UPDATE

N532AS retuned for SEA as ASA90. N535AS (c/n 35200, l/n 3558, f/n 535) will take its place. It appears that Alaska Airlines will rotate out 737-890s, every couple of days, on this supplemental OGG service.

Delta Air Lines' N531DN

Delta Air Lines' Team USA-liveried A350-941, N531DN (msn 755, f/n 3531), made a diversion to HNL early this morning, as it flew from LAX to MEL as DAL11. It's not known when this A350 will continue on. This is N531DN's first appearance at HNL.

N531DN continued onto MEL as DAL9887.

San José State Spartans Team Charter

The San José State Spartans have chartered an Alaska Airlines 737-9 for their road trip to play the Hawai‘i Rainbow Warriors. N963AK (c/n 44069, l/n 8553) arrived from SJC as ASA9677, and will remain at HNL. The Spartans and the 'Bows will be playing for the Dick Tomey Legacy trophy.

03 October 2026 UPDATE

The Spartans returned to SJC with the Dick Tomey Legacy trophy in hand, as they held off the Rainbow Warriors with a 20-16. N963AK departed shortly before midnight as ASA9677.

Virgin Australia Regional's VH-E2E

Virgin Australia Regional is taking delivery of VH-E2E "Honeymoon Cove" (msn 19020236). This E190-E2 is making its delivery flight from SJK to PER, with stops at BGI, OPF, TUS, KOA, NAN, and BNE, as VOZ9943. The overnight KOA stop will be tonight.

Aloha Airlines' N751AL

Closing out the Aloha Airlines tribute in our quarterly "HNL RareBirds Classic" feature, is Aloha Airlines' 737-7Q8, N751AL "Aukele" (c/n 30674, l/n 1511, f/n 751), seen above climbing out from a Runway 8R departure.

PERSONAL NOTE

I rode on N751AL in October 2004 from SNA to HNL, as AAH442. It was a very steep departure out of SNA, as the pilots began throttling up after making the turn from the taxiway leading to Runway 2L. We headed toward the mountains before turning around to head to HNL. On final approach to Runway 8L, the pilots had to make a go-around because the 737 was too high for the approach. The second time was a success. Hard to believe that it was 22 years ago.

Singapore Airlines And DHL Express Extend Partnership

Singapore Airlines and DHL Express announced today that they are extending their partnership that includes five 777-Fs, and the airline's responsibility to crew and maintain the freighters. The length of the extension was not disclosed. This means we will continue to see Singapore Airlines 777-Fs, co-branded with DHL, here at HNL with the SIA74xx flight codes.

Republic of China F-16Vs Continue Home

After training with the Hawai‘i Air National Guard's 199th Fighter Squadron "Hawaiian Raptors", the first two F-16Vs, 6727 (s/n 21-1107 / VN-7) and 6728 (sn 21-1108 / VN-8), for the Republic of China's Air Force is making their way from HIK to RCQS [Chihhang Air Base, Taitung, Taiwan], with a stopover at UAM. A KC-135R, 59-1455 (c/n 17943, l/n T0358) from the Hawai‘i Air National Guard's 203rd Air Refueling Squadron is accompanying the Vipers on the HIK-UAM segment, flying as HOKU81.

The pair of F-16Vs arrived at HNL on 20 August with a US Air Force KC-135R. They had been flying training sorties with the 199th's F-22A Raptors during its time here.

Koninklijke Luchtmacht's T-056

A Koninklijke Luchtmacht (Royal Netherlands Air And Space Force) A330-243 MRTT, T-056 (msn 1919), is making a stop at HNL from ROW today as MMF85. It's operated by the RNLAF for NATO's Multinational Multi-Role Tanker Transport Fleet (MMF).

C-GJWS

Banc of America Leasing is ferrying C-GJWS (c/n 34152, l/n 1714), a 737-8CT, from TUS to TNA, with stops at KOA and SPN. This 737 will undergo freighter conversion at TNA.

C-GJWS's History:

May 2005: Delivered to Westjet Airlines with fleet number 802.

Apr 2026: Withdrawn from service, returned to lessor, and stored at TUS.

ATSG Sells Omni Air International

CH-Aviation reports that Air Transport Services Group announced that they have sold Omni Air International to OAI Holdings. The terms of the sale of the Tulsa-based charter company were not disclosed.

Omni has had a long presence at HNL and HIK. The airline had long run as the charter airline for Vacation Hawaii's LAS flights. Omni also does charters for the US government, and college football team charters.

Alaska Airlines Hedges On 737-10 Certification

Reuters reports that Alaska Airlines is expecting that the Boeing 737-10 will gain its FAA certification by the end of September. No official word from the FAA has been made as of yet. The airline plans to take delivery of the first of 22 737-10s early next year, with induction into service by May. Another 30 737-10s are expected deliver in 2028. Nothing was mentioned by Alaska Airlines as to which routes the 737-10s will be placed on.

The FAA has delayed certification of the 737-10 due to new issues found with the 737MAX flight management system.

According to Alaska Airlines' Media Center, the 737-10 fleet will wear the global livery that their 787-9s are painted in.

Qantas Airways' VH-OQL

Qantas Airways' A380-842, VH-OQL "Phyllis Arnott" (msn 074), made a diversion to HNL while en route from LAX to SYD as QFA12. An on-board medical emergency was the cause of this pre-dawn diversion to HNL. This A380 is parked at Gate C9.

Boeing's N779XX

Boeing's 777-9 testbed aircraft, N779XX (c/n 64241, l/n 1574), is returning to KOA, from BFI, for test flights as BOE2.

Amazon Prime Air's N7019K

Hawaiian Airlines has taken delivery of N7019K "Bluegrass" (msn 1359) today. This A330-343F, owned and operated for Amazon Prime Air, made its delivery flight from CRK to CVG, with an overnight stop at HNL. It will fly with an Alaska Airlines flight code and callsign.

This A330 was ferried from SHA to CRK for storage following its freighter conversion.

Coulson Aviation's N131CG

Coulson Aviation's N131CG (msn 382-4901) is making a stop at JRF as it heads to Australia for their summer aerial firefighting season. This EC-130Q flying from TRM to XRH, with stops at SMX, JRF, and APW, as CUL131.

N436YV

N436YV (msn 436), a Dash8-202 Q200 owned by Berry Aviation, is making a stop at KOA from HYI [San Marcos Regional Airport, Austin, TX], via CCR today.

Virgin Australia is taking delivery of VH-8VK "Woolamai Beach" (c/n 67048, l/n 9811). This 737-8, built at PAE, is making its delivery flight from MLB (following IFE enhancements) to BNE, with stops at ONT and KOA, as VOZ9947. VH-8VK was scheduled to make its delivery flight on 24 September, but was canceled and delayed because of Hurricane Nolo.

Asia Pacific Airlines' N922TS And N931AB

Two interesting posts appeared on our Instagram feed from the "aviation.rs_video" page, that features reels featuring Asia Pacific Airlines' two 757-200Fs stored at SFB. Both N922TS (c/n 24845, l/n 300), a 757-260F, and N931AB (c/n 30339, l/n 896), a 757-231 still in the Uzbekistan Airways base livery, are seen in deteriorating conditions.

N922TS last flew for Asia Pacific in July 2022. N931AB was acquired in July 2022 as well, but only ferried to SFB, and never underwent freighter conversion. In checking the FAA registration database, N922TS remains registered to Aero Micronesia (Asia Pacific's parent company), while N931AB's registration has been canceled.

N342WS

N342WS (c/n 34272, l/n 2449), a 737-8EH owned by World Star Aviation, is ferrying from TUS to TNA, with stops at SDM, SBD, JRF, and GUM. The stops at SDM and SBD were diversions, with some maintenance done at the latter. This is World Star Aviation's second former GOL 737-8EH to stop through Hawai‘i this month headed for freighter conversion at TNA.

Jan 2008: Subleased to Varig, operated by GOL, and registered as PR-VBL.

China Southern Airlines' B-229K

China Southern Airlines is taking delivery of their second 737-8 in as many days. B-229K (c/n 43581, l/n 9836) is making its delivery flight from BFI to CAN, with overnight stops at HNL and GUM as CSN5682. This is also China Southern's 12th 737-8 delivery this year.

Hawai‘i Rainbow Warriors Team Charter

The Hawai‘i Rainbow Warriors football team is chartering a Hawaiian Airlines A321-271N, N230HA "Wauke" (msn 9547, f/n 230) for their road game Saturday against the Wyoming Cowboys. The 'Bows are flying as ASA9681 to DEN, with a stop at OAK. Hawai‘i will be defending to retain the Paniolo Trophy, which is the rivalry trophy that dates back to the Western Athletic Conference era.

N230HA will remain at DEN to bring the Rainbow Warriors home.

Coulson Aviation's N548CG

Coulson Aviation is deploying N548CG (msn 550-0700) from its base at TRM to XRH for the Australian summer aerial firefighting season. This Cessna C550 Citation II is making stops at BLI, CDB, LIH, CXI, APW, and NOU as CUL548. It's LIH overnight stop is tonight.

Tropical Storm Nolo

With Tropical Storm Nolo approaching Hawai‘i Island from the southeast, the US Air Force has deployed two WC-130J Hurricane Hunters from their 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron. 96-5302 (msn 382-5453), flying as TEAL81, and 97-5306 (msn 382-5476), flying as TEAL82, arrived earlier this evening from SUU.

Tropical Storm Nolo is forecasted to upgrade to a Category 1 Hurricane in the next 24-48 hours, and may impact Hawai‘i Island and Maui the most.

China Southern Airlines' B-229L

China Southern Airlines is taking delivery of B-229L (c/n 62954, l/n 9826) today. This 737-8 is making its delivery flight from BFI to CAN, with overnight stops at HNL and GUM, as CSN5683.

Global Jet Luxembourg's LX-NYX

Global Jet Luxembourg's A319-153N ACJ, LX-NYX (msn 10897), is making another HNL stopover as it flies from ABE to SYD as SVW97YX. This ACJ was here ten days ago, on a quick stop, going from SYD to ABE.

Alaska Airlines To Deploy A 737-890 To Hawaiian Airlines

Beginning 03 October, Alaska Airlines will deploy one of their 737-890s to supplement the Hawaiian Airlines 717-200 fleet. It will be used on select HNL-OGG-HNL flights, and will serve as the beginning of the transition to the 737-890s replacing the 717-200s in 2028.

Singapore Airlines' 9V-MCA

Singapore Airlines is taking delivery of 9V-MCA (c/n 44270, l/n 9810) today. This 737-8 is making its delivery flight from PAE to SIN, with overnight stops at HNL and GUM, as SIA8890. This is the 50th 737 delivery flight to stop through the islands this year.

Vietravel Airlines' N676NK

Vietravel Airlines is taking delivery of N676NK (msn 7734). This A321-231 is making its delivery flight from TUS to HAN, with stops at HNL, MAJ, and GUM. As with previous deliveries for Vietravel Airlines, their A321s still wear the Spirit Airlines yellow base livery.

Southwest Airlines' "Love Is In The Air" logo jet, N8730Q (c/n 37042, l/n 7308, f/n 8730), is making its first appearance at HNL. This special-liveried 737-8 arrived from PHX as SWA3200. It's scheduled to depart for LAX in the evening as SWA1550.

N8730Q made an appearance at OGG on 01 September 2026. It arrived from SAN as SWA1805, then departed for LAX as SWA1806.

Dec 2018: Delivered to Southwest Airlines.

Mar 2019: Ferried to VCV for storage during 737MAX Series grounding.

Aug 2020: Sold to BOC, and leased back.

Jan 2021: Re-enters service after the grounding was lifted.

All Nippon Airways' JA923A

All Nippon Airways is premiering its latest 787-9 painted as a Pokémon logo jet. JA923A (c/n 61523, l/n 884) is making its first flight in the green Pokémon special livery, on the ANA186 from HND. It will return to HND later in the day as ANA185.

Aug 2019: Delivered to All Nippon Airways, and operated by Air Japan.

Aug 2026: Painted in the green Pokémon livery, after heavy maintenance.

Shanghai Airlines' N248BE

Boeing is ferrying Shanghai Airlines' N248BE (c/n 43929, l/n 9814) from BFI to HSN for painting and cabin completion. This 737-8 is making overnight stops at KOA and GUM as BOE492. It will receive its Chinese registration upon delivery.

US Air Force To Acquire The 737-8

Aviation Week reports that the US Air Force will be purchasing a 737-8, designated as a C-40D, for their Air Mobility Command's VIP fleet. Flight crews will soon undergo training to crossover from the C-40A.

Korean Air Finalizes Order With Boeing

Korean Air finalized their 103-airliner order with Boeing today. The order, worth over USD 44 billion, is comprised of: 50 737-10s, eight 777-8Fs, 20 777-9s, and 25 787-10s. No dates were given as to when the deliveries will begin.

Global Jet Luxembourg's LX-NYX

Global Jet Luxembourg's A319-153N ACJ, LX-NYX (msn 10897), is making a brief midnight fuel stop from SYD as SVW97YX tonight. It will continue onto ABE [Lehigh Valley International Airport, Allentown, PA]. This ACJ also made a quick stop at HNL this past May.

Never Forget

Itʻs hard to imagine that the events of September 11, 2001, was 25 years ago. Air travel was forever changed with the hijacking and crashing of four airliners by radical islamist terrorists that claimed the lives of 2,977 innocents. We pause to remember those lives lost on that fateful day, as well as those who perished following the attacks. We are thankful for the men and women who risked their lives trying to rescue those trapped in the aftermath.

In Honolulu that day, F-15 Eagles from the Hawai‘i Air National Guard's 199th Fighter Squadron escorted inbound flights that were already inbound, and pas the point of no return. The Eagles and their pilots also flew combat air patrols around the state until the all-clear was given.

If you lived through the events of September 11, 2001, please take a moment to pause and reflect on that day.

May we NEVER FORGET what was done.

Hurricane Lowell Causes LIH Closure

As of 14:00HAST, the Hawai‘i Department of Transportation - Airports has suspended operations at LIH as Category 3 Hurricane Lowell approaches Kaua‘i and Ni‘ihau. Inbound flights already en route are being diverted to HNL. The airport will be inspected tomorrow, and a reopening time will be announced then.
