Malindo Air's 9M-LNF

Malindo Air is ferrying 9M-LNF (c/n 38687, l/n 4368) from CGK to SBD, via GUM and HNL, to join the Delta Air Lines fleet. This 737-9GPER, adorned with the "7500th 737" sticker on both sides of the nose, is flying as MXD9001.

Mar 2013: Delivered to Malindo Air, originally ordered by Lion Air as PK-LKU, but transferred.

Sep 2021: Withdrawn from service.

Malindo Air's VP-CFU

The Lion Group is returning 9M-LNH (c/n 38732, l/n 4844) to Castlelake, and is ferrying from KUL to SBD (via GUM and HNL). This 737-9GPER, registered as VP-CFU, is making an overnight stop at HNL as it will join the Delta Air Lines fleet.

Jun 2013: Originally ordered by Lion Air as PK-LLF, but transferred to Malindo Air as PK-LNH, leased from Castlelake.

May 2021: Withdrawn from service, stored at KUL, and returned to Lessor.

Aug 2021: Registered as VP-CFU by Castlelake, then to Delta Air Lines as N948DJ (f/n 3948).

Malindo Air's VP-CFD

VP-CFD (c/n 36890, l/n 4495), a former Malindo Air 737-9GPER, is ferrying from KUL to SBD, via GUM and HNL. It's on its way to join the Delta Air Lines fleet.

Jun 2013: Originally ordered by Lion Air as PK-LLG, but transferred to Malindo Air as 9M-LNJ, leased from Castlelake.

Jun 2021: Withdrawn from service, and returned to lessor.

Aug 2021: Registered as VP-CFD by Castlelake, then to Delta Air Lines as N943DB (f/n 3943).

Malindo Air's 9M-LNK

Malindo Air is ferrying a second 737-9GPER from KUL to SBD, bound for the Delta Air Lines fleet. 9M-LNK (c/n 38737, l/n 4600), is making the flight as M9LNK, with stops at GUM and HNL.

9M-LNK's History:

Sep 2013: Originally ordered by Lion Air as PK-LLL, but was instead transferred to Malindo Air, and delivered in September 2013. leased from Castlelake.

Jly 2019: It had the "Visit Truly Asia Malaysia 2020" decals added.

Jun 2021: Withdrawn from service, and returned to Castlelake.

Jly 2021: To Delta Air Lines as N950DA (f/n 3950).

Malindo Air's 9M-LNL

One of the first of the second-hand 737-900ERs bound for the Delta Air Lines fleet is making its way to the mainland. Malindo Air's 9M-LNL (c/n 38736, l/n 4592) is ferrying from KUL to SBD, via GUM and HNL. CH-Aviation reports that Delta is in the process of acquiring 29 second-hand 737-900ERs (along with seven second-hand A350-900s) from undisclosed airlines. The 737-900ERs will need to have the Delta cabin configuration installed, and repainted, before they begin to enter service next year. It's not known how many 737-900ERs Delta will acquire from the Lion Air Group.

9M-LNL's History:

Sep 2013: Originally ordered by sister airline Lion Air as PK-LLM, but the parent Lion Air Group transferred it to Malindo Air as 9M-LNL, leased from Castlelake.

Jun 2021: Withdrawn from service, and returned to Castlelake.

Jly 2021: To Delta Air Lines as N949DK (f/n 3949).

Malindo Air To Become Batik Air Malaysia

The Lion Group announced that the Malindo Air brand will be re-branded as Batik Air Malaysia, as it moves to become a full-service airline, like its Indonesian sister airline.

Malinda Air is taking delivery of 9M-LNY (c/n 39871, l/n 5654) today. The 737-8GP is making its delivery flight from BFI as MXD1, and will make its brief pre-dawn fuel stop at HNL.

Malindo Air is taking delivery of second 737-9GPER within the past ten days. 9M-LNJ (c/n 38690, l/n 4495) is making its delivery flight as MLO1. It was originally ordered by Lion Air as PK-LLG.

As of 0930HST, 9M-LNJ is still sitting on the Castle & Cooke Aviation ramp, in the alleyway fronting Lagoon Drive, with its nose facing Diamond Head. It departed later in the day.

Malindo Air is taking delivery of 9M-LNH (c/n 38732, l/n 4484) tonight. The 737-9GPER is making is flight from BFI as MLO1, and will stay at HNL for a brief fuel stop before heading off to MAJ.

The past few Lion Air Group delivery flights have been making late night delivery flights from BFI, instead of the normal daytime flights.

Malindo Air is taking delivery of their second 737-9GPER in a week. 9M-LNG (c/n 38729, l/n 4380) made a brief early-morning fuel stop at HNL today, as MLO1.
